Sifu Thomas Fuhr |
Sifu Thomas Fuhr is head instructor of the Chan Family Choy
Lee Fut Kung Fu School in San Diego, CA. He began his Choy Lee
Fut
training under one of the most respected proponents of the style
in the United States, master Frank Primicias. Fuhr completed
his training with Primicias and pursued further training with
sigung
Chen Yong Fa, the fifth patriarchal lineage holder and great,
great grandson of the founder of Choy Lee Fut, Chan Heung.
Sifu
Fuhr has continued his training and has been accepted as
a member of the Wing Sing Tong, the inner circle of Chen Yong
Fa’s
direct students, where he has been awarded the rank of Country
Master. This is a testament to Fuhr’s hard work, dedication,
character and high level of skill and ability.
"I feel very fortunate that my first martial art was Choy Lee
Fut. I began training at the age of 10 and quickly realized the
benefits of practicing a traditional martial art. I believe that
by training hard and diligently, one can reach a level of practice
that is not only beneficial physically but mentally and spiritually
as well. This eventually leads to the practitioner gaining control
over ones mind and body, a skill that can be applied to every
aspect of life. Ultimately this fosters a sense of well being
in the practitioner and helps he/she to become a more well balanced
individual. I think this is the higher purpose of martial arts
in general".
"I also believe that all people deserve to be able
to defend themselves in any situation. I have always believed
that Choy Lee Fut is
one of the most effective martial systems around. For this
reason I am proud to have the opportunity to train people in
this unique
style of Chinese martial arts. I am very honored to be deemed
worthy to be an instructor of Choy Lee Fut in the United States".
Choy
Lee Fut was propagated in San Diego by Sifu Frank Primicias
who had trained under other CLF Masters such as Doc Fai Wong
and John Lem. The San Diego, Ca. Choy Lee Fut Hung Sing Gwoon
was founded in 2005. We were blessed by the support of the
martial arts community in San Diego. Thus far we have been
focused on
building a strong school and solidifying our reputation in
the martial arts community at large. We have built a strong
core
of students that train hard and are eager to learn. I look
forward to the development and progress of this new generation
and hope
that we can be strong enough to propagate Chan Family Choy
Lee Fut in the United States for future generations to come.
I would
like to humbly thank all of my teachers that have inspired
me to train hard (especially Master Chen Yong Fa) and who’s
invaluable experience has shaped me as a martial artist.
Sincerely, Sifu Thomas Fuhr |
